Mission: To build stronger communities through volunteerism, environmentalism, and active lifestyles.

Life More Natural is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to encourage sustainable lifestyles and strengthen the connection people have with the natural world and their community. We work to connect individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations in tangible action that improves community life and the environment.

Goals for 2010: To reward and encourage over 1,500 hours of new and outstanding community service in the Reno/Tahoe area; to continue to raise awareness about environmental issues that impact a sustainable way of life; to continue to develop our existing programs and to create new projects that build stronger communities.

Programs:

Action Rewards Volunteer Program: encouraging new and outstanding volunteerism with our nonprofit partners by rewarding volunteers with merchandise donated by business sponsors. Learn More Here.
Athletes With a Cause: working with outdoor athletes to raise awareness, funding, and action for diverse charities and conservation efforts. Learn More Here.
Environment: beginning with the Tanzania Solar Project in the winter of 2010/11 we’re working to restore the natural environment locally and globally through diverse energy, restoration and conservation projects. Learn More Here.

History: Founded in Nov. of 2007, in Reno, Nevada, Life More Natural has quickly grown into a network of hundreds of passionate members from around the country. We believe the greatest challenge facing our society today is to find a balance between fulfilling human needs and maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment.

With the help of outdoor businesses we’ve generated more than 700 hours of volunteer work by rewarding the passion of our members. We’ve organized community events as well as outdoor recreation and environmental education kids camps. We’ve raised over $15,000 for charity, and engaged a growing network of people in conversation about the challenges we face in the hope of finding solutions.

We focus on the natural bond that forms between individuals and the environment through outdoor recreation. While helping the environment is our ultimate goal, we believe that without people getting outside, no connection to the environment can form. Outdoor recreation builds a unique and close connection to nature through the humility that comes from sports such as kayaking, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Our motto, “Get Outside. Get Connected.” is inspired by a belief that we all need to reconnect, not only with nature, but with each other. LifeMoreNatural.com is a place for sharing our stories and ideas, building conversation and most importantly, finding solutions.

The conversation can start with our favorite places to play or what’s concerning us about the environment. As long as we’re getting outside, we’re getting connected. As outdoor enthusiasts, we share that connection just as we share the consequences of environmental degradation. Only through conversation and working as a community will we be able to overcome the challenges we face from environmental degradation. Let’s do something about the challenges we face, but let’s have fun while we’re doing it.
