No Olympics but still thankful, by Shelly Robertson
January 23, 2010
Well I have some bad news…I’m not going to be an Olympian. Yesterday I needed to get a podium and it didn’t happen…I’m pretty bummed. I’ve been skiing so well but for some reason the stars just weren’t aligned for that goal. The great thing is is that life goes on and I know there are many more life adventures and fun times to come.
I am so grateful for the amazing lifestyle that I have been living. Competing for the past 11 years on the ski team has been an amazing experiences and the opportunity to see the world has been priceless.
I also want to reiterate again my thanks for all of the encouraging email’s, phone calls and text messages from all of you that have supported me over the last couple of months. I’m going to take a couple week break from all of it (ski some pow in Alaska) and then probably finish the season with two world cups in Spain and Sweden and then of course, Nationals at Squaw!!!
You can help Shelly send kids to ski school by making a donation.
Athletes With A Cause is a way for competing outdoor athletes to raise money for charity while they train and compete. In the past two years we’ve helped raise over $15,000, which has been used to purchase a bi-ski for Wasatch Adaptive Sports in Utah, sending kids to ski school in Nevada, and supporting school sports programs in Healy, Alaska.
