Each year, a sea of volunteers colorfully outfitted in those hard to miss green t-shirts from all walks of life and ages, rollup their sleeves for a few hours, enthusiastically brandishing garbage bags and flower pots to actively transform this home that we all enjoy. Nevada Recycling’s Proposed Facelift

Nevada as the Recycling Capital of the West?

The new recycling center proposed would be an enhanced version of the current facilities that process Reno's recyclables. Waste Managment claims that from Jan. 1, 2007 through Sept. 30, 2008 236 tons of aluminum were recycled in the country.Jim Gibbons proposed a glossy new makeover for Nevada in his Feb. 8 state of the state address. “More new jobs and green jobs will come with the establishment of Nevada as the recycling capital of the west,” Gibbons said.

Transitioning the state from a gambling and divorce hub to a tech savvy recycling focal point would potentially help the state deal with extreme budget shortfalls with the creation of long-term green energy jobs. Read more

Soldiers disabled in Iraq gain confidence by learning to ski

Tahoe City, CA – As part of a week of skiing and celebration, 25 active-duty U.S. soldiers and marines will hit the slopes Wednesday, March 17, Friday, March 19, and Saturday, March 20 for the Wounded Warrior Ability Camp at Disabled Sports USA Far West, located at Lake Tahoe’s Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, for ski and snowboard lessons.
