Petition for Ship Creek Recreation Access
November 23, 2009
Ship Creek Canyon is one of Alaska’s best whitewater creeks and with its close proximity to Anchorage the most accessible in the state. The creek is located on Fort Richardson’s light-tactical training area, an area open to permitted recreation, except for water-craft recreation. An unused dam at the exit to the canyon is the primary reason for access not being allowed and we are hoping to work with the US Government to have a portage trail built so that kayakers can safely and responsibly paddle this great section of whitewater.

“We forget the water cycle and the life cycle are one.”

The Great Basin watershed, a 200,000-square-mile area covering most of Nevada and many other western states, faces future dryness likened to the Sahara desert, Newberry Professor Wallas S. Broecker said. As carbon dioxide levels rise and the global climate changes, precipitation increases in the tropics and decreases in the desert. Read more

Reno, Nevada – Last night’s Winter Kickoff Party at Ceol Irish Pub was a great success for building awareness for our volunteer and charity programs! We had some great prizes to give away from our sponsors and the 4 nonprofits we had join us had a great night of signing up volunteers for the upcoming season. Thanks again to Ceol, Moment Skis, Sugar Bowl, Rocksport and Mt. Rose for helping make it a great night. We look forward to a busy winter of rewarding volunteerism and having a great Summer Kickoff Party with an even bigger turnout sometime this spring! Read more
Chasing the endless winter, by K.C. Deane

K.C. Deane Season Edit from Scott Nikkel on Vimeo.
My name is KC Deane and I was born and raised in Sandpoint, a small town in North Idaho. My dad was a ski patroller and started me skiing at the age of 3. I think back to those early days and realize that being exposed to the mountains and skiing has shaped my life and allowed me to do things I never would have been able to accomplish. I want to give kids the chance to pursue that same dream, a chance that they might not have. Read more

Going to church on Sunday
November 8, 2009
The sun bathed my face with warmth. The blue sky was only divided from the blue of Lake Tahoe by the dark band of mountain peaks rising out of the water. Snow speckled rocky terrain spread below me. If that’s not a scene painted by God, Tao or Brahma, I don’t know what is. Either way, I was there to worship and say thank you for the opportunity to be a part of it. Read more

Celebrating two years and gearing up for a great winter
November 4, 2009
It’s funny to think that two years ago now Life More Natural was born out of a simple question: did you connect to your world today? The question stemmed from a lifestyle of traveling the world for outdoor adventure that was rewarding but that somehow left the answer to that question out of reach. Now, hundreds of stories, over 700 volunteer hours created, $15,000 raised for charity and a rapidly growing network of supporters later, the answer is beginning to emerge. Read more
