September 12, 2009 – The inaugural Galena Fest 2009 will take place Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Galena Creek Regional Park, Reno, NV. activities get underway at 8 am and include competitive mountain bike races for all ages, The Big Fish Contest for 4-11 year olds, and outdoor activities and fun for all ages. The festival will get underway around 11 AM and will feature live music, BBQ and food, a beer/beverage terrace and competition awards. Read more

Help give a kid a bike, volunteer with Kiwanis, from Marshall Liddle

Reno, Nev. – Roger and Ellen Jacobson give bikes to children. Lots of bikes. The Reno-Sparks Kiwanis Bike Program, coordinated by the Jacobsons, gives out as many as 600 bikes and 1500 helmets a year to children in the area. The program also presents bike “rodeos” at schools to teach good biking skills. Experienced volunteers help children and adults repair and understand their bikes better. Read more

Extreme tubing Baldrock Canyon from Ryan Oddo

Middle Fork Feather River, CA – Some friends and supporters of Life More Natural went on backpacking/tubing/canyoning trip in Baldrock Canyon over Labor Day Weekend and gave us some photos for a slideshow of their adventure. Great way to see the Middle Fork of the Feather River. Pretty damn sick, but don’t this at home.

But one thing that Nevada is not rich on is dense forest. Paddlers needed for the Truckee River clean-up day, Sept. 26th

Reno, Nevada – It’s time for the annual Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful Truckee River Clean-up! We need paddlers to help clean up the remnants of another great year of recreation on our Truckee River . IKs and rafts will be provided so all you will need is a pfd, helmet, and gear to keep warm in the water. We will meet at 7:30am Saturday (September 26) morning and be off the river by noon. Give us a shout and we’ll get you all dialed out and entered to win some Moment Skis or a season pass to Sugar Bowl. Experienced boaters only please.
