Biking along the South Fork of the American River
April 29, 2009
Auburn, Calif. – The foothills of the Sierra Mountains are a playground of green, rolling hills, river canyons and endless outdoor fun. The Salmon Falls trail along the South Fork of the American River is the first mountain bike ride I’ve done in the foothills, but it won’t be the last. Read more

“We can no longer delay,” from Steve Bouchard
April 21, 2009
“We can no longer delay putting a framework for a clean energy economy in place.”
Those were President Obama’s words in last week’s economic address when he adopted our call for closing of the carbon pollution loophole — a critical step towards revitalizing our economy and repowering America. Read more
Plant the seeds and watch your garden grow
April 15, 2009
Reno, Nevada – Today is the day when we’re all forced to remember that the only things we can truly count on are death and taxes. Like most everything else, the government has a real knack for sucking the joy out of spring. Uncle Sam goddamn aside, spring is also the time of birth and rejuvination. Rather than just a day to be pissed off, Tax Day is also a pretty good marker for when to get your garden planted. Read more
Climbing the California coastline
April 14, 2009
Big Sur, California – There’s a lot of things I’ve done and enjoyed along the rocky California coastline. I’ve surfed my kayak, mountain biked, hiked and just sat in the sand to soak in the view. One thing I’ve never done is climb with the waves crashing all around me, until last weekend that is. Like all things California, there’s nothing else quite like it. Read more

1 Climate. 1 Future. 1 Chance. from Liz Butler
April 7, 2009
Last Tuesday, leaders in Congress released a draft of a major climate and energy bill — the first to reach for science-based targets to cut global warming pollution. It’s a huge first step to lead America into a clean energy economy. But there are many key parts we have to strengthen before it moves forward. This may be our best shot at passing climate legislation this year, so it’s critical that we make it as strong as possible. Read more
Treating the disease by building on our accomplishments
April 5, 2009
The change of seasons is always a time of reflection for me. Another winter gone, we now start the time of renewal and growth. As we move forward into a new season and begin to focus on the goals we have for the future, it’s always good to look back and think about what we’ve accomplished. This winter has been full of wonderful accomplishments that everyone involved with LMN should be proud of. But if we also take a moment to reflect on the state of things around us, we’ll recognize that there is far more yet to be done.
